Singing the scriptures
Here are two pictures of Lilly from today. The one of her in her chair makes me laugh - she's all kicked back with her cute pink socks sticking out. In the other she's looking up at big sister while I'm reading aloud for homeschool.
Today's post is for those that have little ones at home or in their life and
want a suggestion to help those children hide the word of the Lord in their hearts. In the past few weeks we've gotten some children's music of scripture set to song. It has amazed me as to how fast my 2 year old son has been memorizing it. He can sing along with a lot of the songs and will walk around singing parts on his own too. (It helps that his vocabulary has just exploded in the past week.)
I play this (non-obnoxious) music several times a day for the children and have found that it even sticks in my brain. (Yay! It's usually hard for me to memorize anything anymore.) I have no idea what Lilly will be capable of mentally, but I do know that God's word will not return empty:
"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
If you're interested, here is where we got the music:
From No Greater Joy: ABC Bible Verses Song CD - http://shop.nogreaterjoy.org/product_info.php/products_id/95
From Scripture Memory Fellowship: we have several of the available titles - my son's favorite is "I Am" -

I could'nt post on their blog.... would you please send this message to Lily's family for me? Thank you!!! In a hurry, so I'll talk to you later! Xxxoo
Lily will remain in my prayers! She is so beautiful! Lily looks very much like my Hope born February 1c,2010. Hope also had Trisomy 18 (full). I personally know exactly how you feel and how special I felt that God allowed me to be Hope's Mom and through Hope's life, she taught me, my husband and those around my family so much about life and countless other lessons that I feel overwhelmed with gratitude and blessings! I know you will continue to enjoy each precious day you have with Lily...and you are so right, each day is a gift to us all! God Bless You and Yours! With much love, Kim Darnell
If you would like to talk, my email is kimdarnell@darnellhomeessentials.com or you can reach me on Facebook...Kim Ellis Darnell. Feel free to contact me any time! :). Thank you so much for sharing your Lily with us!!!
THAT FIRST PICTURE REALLY, REALLY CRACKS ME UP!
ReplyDeleteJudy Rogers has some good stuff. Some songs are Scripture-based, others are Scripture set to music. Her CD, "Why Can't I See God?" has a neat song on the Ten Commandments.
ReplyDeletei've had my eye on this series of "Seeds" cds for a while. As I understand it the words are all directly from the NIV. I want to get some for the girls, maybe for christmas. I just noticed that they come two to a purchase, so you can share one with a friend. ummm are you thinking what i'm thinking? lol

One of my favorite Children's CD (and great for adults too) is called Each Little Dew Drop. We got it when Isaiah had first come to us, it even has a song about Isaiah in it and we have it memorized. I sang it to him hours on end when I was rocking him! I got it from the Truth Bookstore.
